Overview of the Lewis Farm in the Carter Community of Stoney Creek near Unaka Elementary School. Picture was taken in and around 1885 - 1900. This picture shows the telegraph lines and the railroad tracks. Records show it took all day to travel to Elizabethton and back to the Lewis home, which was about a 10-12 hour trip by wagon.

This is a picture of the Lewis cabin built in and around 1830. Four of the six generations of the Lewis family lived in this cabin. Those consisted of Lewis D. Lewis Sr., Lewis Lewis Jr., J.F.M. Lewis and Stant Lewis. The cabin was in and around the 1890's was converted to a shoe shop and country store.

The barn was built in and around the 1830's - 1840's. The barn roof has been restored with a fresh paint job and red metal has been installed to protect the original inside of the barn. The barn's inside has been put together with wooden pegs and very few nails.
